The Liberian United Women in Progress (LUWIP) is also more then just about a beauty
pageant. We try to create an equal balance in our community, in meeting the needs of our
youth and our elders alike. This is how we honor our pass and celebrate our future.
LUWIP is currently involved with.

The Saving Grace Orphanage in Liberia
LUWIP is a proud sponsor of the Saving Grace Orphanage, which is in Liberia.  The
orphanage opened in 1999 by one woman in an effort to help stabilize children who
became orphans and/or abandoned due the war. While there, after several trips to the
country, using her personal resources, she opened the doors of Saving Grace.  To date,
the orphanage has helped hundreds of Liberian children be reunited with family members
and is providing a home for hundreds more.  Our project for the orphanage is to raise
funds for a twenty-four room dormitory so that even more children can be helped.

Mentoring Program
In 2005, LUWIP became a proud partner with the Lutheran Children and Family Services,
in launching a mentoring program.  The goal of this program is to pair up young Liberian
refugee children with caring adults in the community who are role models.  This is a very
exciting program for us, as we are able to help young Liberians integrate into this fast track
society, while maintaining those core values that makes us who we are.
